I am so excited to announce my un-school project. I am in the process of creating a learning zone that will provide safe space for children where they can be themselves, authentic, stay hungry for learning while also becoming compassionate, kind and caring global citizens.
Below are my non-negotiable values for Lily’s Kites Learning Zone:
It will be an all-inclusive community where everybody is accepted no matter how different they are. Acceptance and respect is expected from parents, students and staff;
Parents must be 100% on board with being open to Conscious Parenting principles. Conscious Parenting by Dr. Shefali Tsabary is a concept where parenting is about the parents, not the kids. Once we can raise ourselves, we can then raise our children to be their best authentic selves;
Competition barrier must be torn down. Priority is on bettering one’s self and living in harmony. Community is key, so no one feels alone;
Teaching is child-focused, project-based and relevant. Emphasis is on real world engagement and service to others;
Staff will know and see each student; communicating with students and parents will help in providing constant guidance for the whole family;
Our job is to empower children to develop grit, resilience and perseverance;
Free play is crucial for children to learn easier and quicker.
School will open in the Fall of 2024 or 2025. We will provide updates and more details on a regular basis.
